    Fall Varsity Athletics Begin

    Fall varsity athletics begin and students in Grades 8-12 may try out for the sports being offered. 

    Fall varsity athletics begin on Monday, Aug. 11 (note varsity sailing begins Aug. 18). Students in grades 8-12 may try out for the following sports:

    Fall Junior Varsity Athletics Begin

    Upper School Locker Set-Up & New Device Set-Up

    • All upper school students are welcome to set up lockers to prepare for a smooth first day of classes.
    • All new and returning students who have purchased a new device may come in to receive assistance connecting to the school’s network in the Collegiate Café. This can also be done during orientation. Please note all students should have their login information for MyCollegiate as well. This is required to use a device on the school’s network.

    Pre-K4-Grade 12 Orientations

    Norfolk Collegiate will host orientations for new families in pre-K4 through grade 12, in addition to hosting locker set-up days. Additional details and times will be shared via email before the beginning of school.

    Pre-K4-Grade 5 NEW Student & Parent Orientation

    This is a wonderful opportunity for our NEW students and their parents to become more acquainted with Collegiate. Please join us for this informative time together and don’t forget to bring your school supplies.
    • Pre-K4 and Kindergarten students will go directly to their classrooms and students in grades 1 through 5 will drop off their supplies in their classrooms and then will meet in the Spainhour Family Library.
    • All family members will then join administrators in the auditorium.

    • All upper school students are welcome to set up lockers to prepare for a smooth first day of classes.

    • All sixth grade students (returning and new to Collegiate) should be dropped off at the middle school entrance on Suburban Parkway at 9 a.m. where they will meet their faculty advisors and classmates. The Parent Orientation session will start at 11 a.m. in the Hackney Theater.
    • Students are NOT required to be in school dress for orientation.
    • Students should bring their materials for setting up their lockers and their device.

    New 7 & 8 Grade Student Orientation

    Parents of Freshmen & New Upper School Parent Orientation

    This is for all parents of freshmen and new parents. Orientation is held in the Hackney Theater in the Meredith Center for the Arts. At its conclusion, our athletic office, business office and other staff will be available for questions.

    Freshmen & New Student Orientation

    This is for ALL freshmen (new and returning) and ALL new students in grades 10-12 to Norfolk Collegiate. This session will begin in the Hackney Theater in the Meredith Center for the Arts with families and students together.  
    • Students are NOT required to be in school dress.
    • Students are invited to set up lockers at 9 a.m.
    • Students returning to Collegiate will be released at 12 p.m.
    • All new students to Collegiate will end the day at 12:30 p.m. after completing email, Internet and device setup. Please be sure to bring your fully charged device.

    Lower School Open House for Returning Students

    All returning students and parents are invited to attend our lower school Open House. This is a great time for your students to settle into their new learning environments and unpack supplies.

    6 Grade Parent & New 7 & 8 Grade Parent Orientation

    • New parents will learn about the middle school opportunities, dress code, advisory and more from the comfort of the Hackney Theater in the Meredith Center for the Arts.
    • At the conclusion of parent orientation, parents and students will begin locker set-up.

    First Day of School (Pre-K4-grade 12)

    All students in pre-Kindergarten 4 through grade 12 will kick off the 2025-26 school year!

    Pre-K3 students will begin on Aug. 25.

    CANCELED: Sunsets on the River

    This event has been CANCELED.

    Due to the potential impacts from Hurricane Erin, including the threat of tidal flooding, high winds, and power outages, tomorrow's Sunsets on the River concert at the Hermitage Museum & Gardens is canceled. 
     
    As this was the final concert of the season, we look forward to gathering with our Oaks at other upcoming events. Thank you for your support and understanding.

    Fall Middle School Athletics Begin

    Fall middle school athletics begin today! Students in grades 6-8 may try out for the sports being offered. Details were emailed from Coach Jon Hall.

    practices on Monday, Aug. 25. Middle school sailing begins on Tuesday, Aug. 26. 
     
    Fall sports offerings include:
     
    All middle school student-athletes should bring their sport-specific practice clothes and equipment to school on Aug. 25 and store all items in the PE locker rooms during the day. After school, they will have time to change and get to the practice fields or buses for departure. On-campus sports practices begin at 3:25 p.m. sharp and will finish at 4:45 p.m. Off-campus sports will begin once the team arrives via bus transportation. 
     
    Boys soccer will meet on the Franklin Family & Mathas Family Fields, which can be accessed through the double doors by the Collegiate Corner. Post-practice students may be picked up at the field gates on the middle school side of the school off of Suburban Parkway at 4:45 p.m. or students may return to the middle school where they can attend extended care until 5:30 p.m. Any students in the building after classes end and not participating in a sport or afterschool activity must attend extended care, which is a fee-based supervised program.
      
    Volleyball will meet in the middle school gymnasium at 3:25 p.m. and students can be picked up at the middle school entrance at 4:45 p.m. 
     
    Cross country, sailing and girls tennis will meet the buses outside the middle school gym near the athletic director’s office with all transportation departing at 3:25 p.m. sharp. There will be adult supervision to ensure all students get on the correct bus safely. Off-campus students should be picked up at their off-campus locations at the conclusion of practice.
      
    Sailing takes place at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, 7001 Hampton Boulevard, Norfolk, 23505. Practice will finish at 6 p.m.
      
    Girls tennis takes place at Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center at Old Dominion University, 4501 Parker Avenue, Norfolk, 23529. Practice will finish at 5:30 p.m. Please see the update below regarding parking near the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center: The tennis lot (lot 10) is not available due to construction to the baseball field.
