Athletics

home of the MIGHTY OAKS!

Welcome to Norfolk Collegiate, where we believe a well-rounded school experience includes a healthy emphasis on team sports and fitness. Our athletic programs offer more than 50 teams in nearly 20 sports, which provides our student-athletes opportunities to round out their educational experience with teamwork and competition. Our program emphasizes participation, whether for athletes aspiring to play at a college level or for those who simply enjoy competition and camaraderie. Athletes compete in the fall, winter and spring seasons and have opportunities to participate at the middle school, junior varsity and varsity levels.

Beginning in the Lower School, our students participate in physical education and intramurals, with a focus on teaching fitness and nutrition. For students in grades 6 through 12, athletics are a core component of the educational experience. Team and individual sports available to our student-athletes focus on healthy competition that develops life skills like teamwork, accountability, goal setting and effective communication – skills that will serve our students well not just on the field of play, but in the classroom, in their social environment and in the workplace.

Health & Fitness Program

Our strength and conditioning program is integrated into all sports and ensures that our student-athletes remain fit, healthy and able to strive for their personal bests. Additionally, our strength and conditioning coach and athletic training partnership with Bon Secours are resources that extend beyond the varsity athletes and team sports, and are available to all Norfolk Collegiate students. The goal of these programs is to teach students healthy habits now, so they may have them through college and life.

Our Facilities

Our weight room is outfitted with strength and conditioning machines, industry-leading weight training systems and state-of-the-art flooring. Our training room also offers state-of-the-art technologies to help diagnosis and treat common sports injuries, as well as prevent injuries.

Coming this September, our student-athletes will begin playing on two turf fields equipped with Musco lights, a batting cage, seating and high-visibility scoreboards. The school partnered with the Loudermilk Group, a nationally recognized athletic facility planner, to design Norfolk Collegiate's turf fields and lights

Norfolk Collegiate teams compete in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS) and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA).
