Celebrating the Month of the Military Child

Norfolk Collegiate proudly celebrates the Month of the Military Child, honoring the strength, resilience and unique experiences of our military-connected students and their families.

We began the day with a meaningful show of community, as military families helped welcome students during morning carpool—greeting each student with warmth and connection.

On April 10, we dedicated the day to recognizing these students across all divisions. Our lower school gathered for a special assembly, where students shared personal stories about life as a military child, including experiences living abroad and adapting to new communities. In the middle and upper school, students came together over doughnuts and marked a map with the many places they’ve lived—each pin representing a story of resilience and adventure.

Military children are often symbolized by the dandelion—able to take root and thrive wherever they are planted. Like the dandelion, our students continue to grow, adapt and flourish through every transition.
As a Purple Star School, Norfolk Collegiate is honored to support and celebrate our military families—not just this month, but all year long.
