Winter Student-Athletes Celebrated at 2026 Athletic Awards Program
Norfolk Collegiate’s winter student-athletes were honored on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, during the Middle and Upper School Winter Athletic Awards program. Surrounded by their peers, coaches and faculty, the Oaks celebrated a season filled with dedication and perseverance.
The winter season — the longest of the athletic year — began on Nov. 3, 2025, and concluded Feb. 25, 2026, with the final varsity basketball game. During that time, Collegiate student-athletes competed in swimming, wrestling, basketball and cheer, with four varsity sports and a total of 12 teams representing the Oaks.
The season was marked by impressive achievements across multiple programs. Several teams advanced deep into conference play, including a TCIS finalist and multiple quarterfinalists and semifinalists. The varsity boys basketball team qualified for the VISAA state tournament and advanced to the state quarterfinals.
Middle school athletics also celebrated a major highlight this season. The middle school blue girls basketball team captured the Norfolk Collegiate Middle School League 8th Grade Division Championship with a victory over Norfolk Academy in the title game.
Throughout the season, numerous student-athletes earned recognition across the TCIS and VISAA levels for their performance and sportsmanship.
During the awards ceremony, standout athletes were recognized for their contributions to their teams through a variety of honors, including Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Outstanding Teammate and the OAK Award—a distinction recognizing leadership, character and commitment to Norfolk Collegiate athletics.

As these athletes look ahead to future seasons and new challenges, they carry with them lessons learned through competition, perseverance and teamwork.
As legendary football coach Vince Lombardi once said, “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.” The resilience and determination shown by this year’s winter athletes exemplify that spirit.
