Supply drive to benefit third-world students

During the week of Feb. 1, Collegiate’s Interact Club is hosting a weeklong supply drive to benefit children in Nicaragua.

Students are tasked with the opportunity to donate travel size toiletry items and school supplies for children of Chinandega, Nicaragua.

“The Norfolk Collegiate community is welcomed to bring in new school supplies and travel-sized toiletry items,” said Michaela Marrow Foster ’16, Interact Club president. “Items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush, anti-bacterial wipes, deodorant and hair accessories would be great.”

Donations of school supplies are also highly important to the success of the supply drive.

“We’ll need school supplies such as coloring books, puzzles, a gallon or quart of Ziploc® bags, markers, crayons, paper and more,” said Michaela.

“The donations will be shipped to Wakefield, Va., where the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs, will separate items and box them to be shipped to Nicaragua.
