Collegiate to host Google + iOS Summit for educators

The Google + iOS Summit will host its 2015 EdTechTeam Virginia Independent Schools Summit featuring Google for Education at Norfolk Collegiate on Oct. 3 through 4.

Independent school educators from around the region and state will gather on Collegiate’s Middle and Upper School campus to participate in the conference and expand their knowledge of Google applications within the classroom.

The two-day, high-intensity summit will focus on integrating and employing Google applications for educational purposes. Participants will learn how to promote student learning within K-12 and higher educational institutions.

This hands-on learning experience will feature inspiring keynote speakers and presenters who are Google-certified teachers, education-certified innovators, Apple-distinguished educators and Google employees.

Colleagues will brainstorm ideas and gain knowledge of using iPads® with Google applications to amplify learning and advance the summit’s goal of creating a paperless classroom.

“Hosting the Virginia Independent Schools Summit Featuring Google + iOS here on our campus is exciting for so many reasons.  This event gives our teachers access to world-class presenters and hands-on professional learning aligned with independent school culture,” said Charlene Loope, director of instructional technology and communication arts. “Additionally, our faculty will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded teachers from our state and beyond.  We are thrilled to have this opportunity to share our campus and facilities with other independent school educators as we participate in what will certainly prove to be a weekend of high-energy learning.”

In addition to the two-day summit, educators will have the opportunity to attend pre-summit workshops to explore topics such as Digital Leadership and Google Drive and the iPad®: A Friendship Made in the Clouds.
