A huge success for #GivingTuesday

On Tuesday, Nov. 29, Norfolk Collegiate participated in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration from a blend of nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and schools.

This national day of giving allowed everyone everywhere to give and donate to a charitable cause of their choice.

It is Collegiate’s third year participating with this national day of giving via #NCSGives. Together, Collegiate raised $7,327.95 — more than double last year’s donations.

“#GivingTuesday is a great way for our students to understand the global effect of giving,” said Alumni Relations Coordinator Cayte Brown ’08, who led the initiative. “This year, we saw donations from all parts of the Norfolk Collegiate community, including alumni, current parents, former faculty members and students. We are proud to say that we have 100 percent faculty and staff giving, as well as 100 percent senior class giving.”

#NCSGives provided our students, alumni, friends and families the opportunity to support Collegiate while giving in honor or memory of those who gave so our students could succeed.

Students were encouraged to give in honor of their favorite teacher or coach. Faculty and staff were encouraged to give in honor of a student or a school initiative.

“Giving is important because it brings the privileges that we have full circle, and we’re able to donate to others who may not have those same opportunities,” said Abe Musselmani ’20.

All proceeds from #NCSGives benefit Norfolk Collegiate’s Annual Fund, which supports almost every aspect of a Collegiate education. Donations will be recognized in the Annual Report and are 100 percent tax-deductible.
