STAY IN SHAPE WITH SUMMER CONDITIONING SESSIONS 

Before you hop onto your pool float and say farewell to your workout routine, consider keeping your momentum going strength and conditioning training this summer. Norfolk Collegiate’s Strength and Conditioning Coach Brandon Trusty will be offering daily workout programs to help students, parents, grandparents, new families and more get in shape and stay fit.

Sessions run through the summer Monday through Friday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. and Monday-Thursday from 4-5:15 p.m. Please note that participants arriving after 3:30 p.m. for afterschool conditioning or indoor sports should call 757.419.1053 for access to the building. 

Whether you come for one session or participate as much as your schedule accommodates, all student-athletes in grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate, as well as non-athletes and all members of the Collegiate community, including teachers, parents and alumni.

Trusty will offer training in speed, agility, strength, power and conditioning. After all, the work you do as an athlete during the off-season will set the stage for your performance during your season.

 

Summer Pre-Season Team Sessions:

Additionally, many of Collegiate’s coaches are offering training sessions for their team’s skills, tactic and fitness improvement. Most team times do not conflict so student-athletes may mix and match team sessions listed below:

Field hockey:

  • Attend conditioning and work on your /stick skills on your own through July 6. Pre-season sessions start July 9. After July 9:
  • Mondays: 9-11 a.m. on the near field
  • Tuesdays: 2:30-4 p.m. on the near field, conditioning after
  • Thursdays: 8-9:30 a.m. on the near field

Volleyball:

  • Tuesdays: 5-7 p.m. in the middle school gym
  • Thursdays: 5-7 p.m. in the middle school gym

Cross Country:

  • Mondays and Fridays: 4:30 - 6 p.m. at Norfolk Collegiate lower school field
  • Saturdays: 4:30-6 p.m. beach runs, 632 W. Ocean View, Norfolk
  • Sundays: 8-9:30 a.m. at First Landing State Park. Pick up at Granby campus parking lot at 7:30 a.m.

Girls lacrosse:

  • Tuesdays: 11-12:30 p.m. on the far field
  • Wednesdays: 3-4 p.m. on the far field
  • Thursdays: 11-12:30 p.m. on the far field

Boys varsity/JV basketball:

  • Monday-Friday: 3-6 p.m. from June 18 (may vary once girls basketball times are set)

Girls and boys soccer:

  • Mondays: 5:30-7 p.m. on the turf fields
