Fifth-Grade spelling bee heats up

On Tuesday, April 4, our fifth-grade students took to the Hackney Theater stage and competed in their grade’s Spelling Bee.

It took 29 students 31 rounds before a winner was declared with the word “udon.” Evan Skroch took home first-place honors, Camille Porter earned second-place honors and Adam Siebert took home third-place honors.

The competition was so intense that they went through 195 of the 200 words. If the competition had continued, they would have gone into the challenge words to determine a winner.

The third and fourth-grade students will be facing off against their classmates in their respective spelling bees in May.

Way to go, Oaks!
