Collegiate gears up for Fall Fair and Homecoming

It’s the time of year were blue and white pride is at an all-time high within the Norfolk Collegiate community because Fall Fair and Homecoming is Oct. 21-22.

The Oyster Roast & Taste of Collegiate will kick-off the weekend on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. This 21 and up event is for alumni, parents, friends of Collegiate and faculty and staff to enjoy food, spirits and fun.

Now in its fourth year, the Oyster Roast & Taste of Collegiate will feature live entertainment from the band Second GLance featuring alumnus Tommy Mathas ’83.

“There are a lot of exciting things happening at the school and it’s important for our alumni to come back and see the changes that continue to provide a great experience for our students,” said Cayte Brown ’08, alumni relations coordinator. “I’m looking forward to another great turn out at this year’s event.”

Following Friday’s fun is our Fall Fair on Saturday, Oct. 22 on our beautiful turf fields at 11 a.m.

Last year’s event was one to remember as it was the first year the fair was held on our newly renovated fields.

From the first Chili Cook-Off to the Farmers’ Market and Touch-a-Truck, our Oaks enjoyed every moment of the day and this year will be no different.

“I’m really excited to have Chef Harper Bradshaw, owner of Harper’s Table in Suffolk, here to taste the chili at the Chili Cook-Off and to see some of the fascinating new vendors joining our Farmers Market,” said Kate Pringle, Annual Fund and special events manager.

Collegiate will feature new and exciting age-appropriate games and inflatables for our students to enjoy along with athletic games.

Some of our vendors will include Josh Solomon selling beautiful handblown glass creations and Anne in the Sand offering handmade jewelry featuring shells and sea glass. The lineup for tucks will be similar to last year with Norfolk Fire Department and Bay Disposal, along with several vehicles from the Norfolk Police Department.
