Class of 2018 Important Dates

Congratulations seniors and parents of seniors! As the end of the year approaches, there are many exciting activities to attend. We would like to offer several reminders about upcoming events and expectations so seniors and their families may fully prepare for graduation. 

If you have questions about specific events, please refer to the information mailed to senior parents at the beginning of May or contact the upper school office.

 

MAY 22 AT 6:30 P.M. | SENIOR ATHLETE & PARENT DINNER

Collegiate Cafe

Seniors and their parents are honored for their athletic contributions to Norfolk Collegiate during this event coordinated by the Athletic Department.

 

MAY 23 AT 8:30 A.M. | SENIOR RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Hackney Theater

Attendance is mandatory. This program begins at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 9:30 a.m. Parents are invited to attend.

  • Dress for boys: Coat and tie, dress shoes & socks, clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirt or dress (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, a blouse and dress shoes.

 

MAY 23 AT 9:30 A.M. | FIRST GRADUATION REHEARSAL

Watt-Baker Gym

There are two mandatory graduation rehearsals. The first will be held immediately following the Senior Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, May 23. The second rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 24, after the Senior Breakfast (about 9 a.m.). Formal graduation pictures will
be taken with Hayne Photography on May 24. All seniors must be dressed in their cap and gown for these pictures . Attendance is mandatory.

 

MAY 24 AT 7:45 A.M. | SENIOR BREAKFAST

Collegiate Cafe

The annual Senior Breakfast is a wonderful celebration where we treat seniors to breakfast served by faculty members. It’s a memorable event and includes the distribution of yearbooks and a slide show prepared by the class officers. Breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m. and will be held in
the Collegiate Café. Seniors should be prompt. Please note the time change from the printed calendar.
 

MAY 24 AT 9 A.M. | FINAL GRADUATION REHEARSAL

Watt-Baker Gym

Attendance is mandatory and begins immediately after breakfast.

  • Dress for boys: Coat and tie, dress shoes & socks, clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirts or dresses (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants and blouse and dress shoes.

** All seniors must be in their caps and gowns for this rehearsal to take formal pictures.

 

MAY 24 AT 5 P.M. | BACCALAUREATE SERVICE

Hackney Theater

Attendance is mandatory.  Parents and family members are encouraged to attend this ceremony with their son or daughter. Baccalaureate begins at 5 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Franklin Lobby.

Dress for boys: Coat and tie, dress shoes & socks, clean-shaven. Caps and gowns are not worn to this event.

Dress for girls: Skirt or dress (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, a blouse and dress shoes. Caps and gowns are not worn to this event.

 

MAY 25 AT 4 P.M. GRADUATION

Watt-Baker Gymnasium

Seniors need to arrive in their cap and gown and must be in the Hackney Theater by 3:15 p.m. for pictures. All caps and gowns MUST BE RETURNED to the Hackney Theater before leaving campus on graduation day. Report cards will be issued after caps and gowns are returned. Reception to follow in the Harris Courtyard.

  • Dress for boys: Dress shirt and tie, dress shoes & socks, clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirt or dress (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, a  blouse and dress shoes.

Graduation will be live streamed, so please share this link with any out-of-town family or friends who won't be able to attend.
