Norfolk Collegiate’s Heath Chapter of the National Honor Society, NHS, inducted 38 new members into the chapter on Friday, April 7. NHS is a national organization that recognizes outstanding sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet academic and service requirements.

The new inductees included: Aisha Alfahd; Gabriella Allen; Reagan Alsop; Maria Behling; Selim Benis; Courts Breeden; David Britt; Milan Brooks; Christopher Bunch; Allison Casper; Thomas Chatman; Princess’ Kayla Dawson; Miles Edmond; Austin Fatizzi; Samantha Fowler; Maximillian Golovsky; Clarissa Harbin; Alexis Hirschfeld; Cecilia Kelly; Jordan Laster; Margaret Lockhart; Mitchell Maguire; Frances Monroe; Ethan Myers; Alexander Potter; Philip Purrington IV; Jacob Roth; Christopher Sarris; Megan Silverman; Lila Spurgeon; Rachel Sutelan; Allison Symmes; Mary Toomy; Hayden Verostic; Maxwell Vooss; Melody Williford; Carter Woods and Matthew Youen. 

NHS is open to students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who have a cumulative grade point average of 88 or higher and demonstrate the attributes of leadership, good character and citizenship, as well as a desire to render service and to provide worthy leadership. To be eligible, students have to have already completed 10 hours of community service and must complete additional community service hours before the end of the school year.

At Collegiate, community service activities and volunteerism are valued, and students are encouraged to participate in activities that benefit others.
