honor societies at Norfolk Collegiate

Norfolk Collegiate offers several honor societies to our students. Among them are the English Honor Society, National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society.

The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are closely related with a mission “to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.”

These societies are the nation's premier organizations, established to recognize outstanding students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to distinguish those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the NHS and NJHS organizations since their respective beginnings in 1921 and 1929.

Membership in this societies is based on several criteria, including academic achievements and community service. The following pages offer more details on the societies, from membership to community service requirements.
