Grow an Oak Referral Program

Norfolk Collegiate's Grow an Oak Referral Program is a way for Norfolk Collegiate to show our appreciation to current parents for their ambassadorial work in referring other families to our school. New students generated by referrals are testaments not only to the school but, more importantly, to the students and parents who share the diverse opportunities available at Norfolk Collegiate.

Grow an Oak offers referring parents the option of a one-time $500 tuition discount, if the student they refer enrolls next year and attends for at least one semester.

How does it work?

To show appreciation, Norfolk Collegiate gives current parents options for tuition account credits for referring new families to our school. There are two such programs, described below:

  • Current parents means the parents or guardians paying tuition for a student currently enrolled at Norfolk Collegiate.
  • New family means the family of student K-12 not previously enrolled at Norfolk Collegiate.
  • Neither incentive program applies to international students or to their placement organizations.
  • Current families are eligible for both categories below and for multiple entries.

Program 1: Referrals of families who enroll

The current Norfolk Collegiate parent who is documented by the newly enrolled student’s family as their referral source (only one referral source can be credited, see below) has the option of receiving a one-time $500 tuition credit after the new family has completed one semester’s enrollment at Norfolk Collegiate.

Credits to current parents’ tuition accounts will be applied twice a year, depending on when their referred family enrolled: January if the new family was enrolled by first semester, September if enrolled thereafter.

Current parents may opt to re-gift their one-time $500 to Norfolk Collegiate and receive a tax-deductible donation receipt.

To receive tuition credit, the current parent must be noted by the new family as their referral source via a Referral Verification documented by the admissions department. This verification requires the new family either to:

  • Present to the admissions office prior to or at the time of enrollment a Norfolk Collegiate School referral card bearing the current parent’s name.
  • Cite the referring current parent on their application for admission form.

Program 2: Referrals of families who contact admissions to inquire about enrollment

The current Norfolk Collegiate parent documented by the inquiring family as its referral source for the upcoming school year or a proximate school year will be entered in an annual drawing for a one-time $500 tuition credit, drawing to be conducted by the admissions office prior to June 1.

To be enrolled in the drawing, the current parent must be documented as the referral source in at least one of the following ways by the new family:

  • Noted verbally as the referral source at the time of inquiry (to be verified by admissions staff when the new family tours or applies).
  • Named on referral card that the new family presents to the admissions office prior to or at the time of enrollment.
  • Cited as the referring current parent on their application for admission form.

The winner of the drawing may opt to re-gift the one-time $500 to Norfolk Collegiate and receive a tax-deductible donation receipt.
