Class of 2019 Important Dates

Congratulations members of the Class of 2019 and their parents! As the end of the year approaches, there are many exciting activities to attend. We would like to offer several reminders about upcoming events and expectations so seniors and their families may fully prepare for graduation. 

If you have questions about specific events, please refer to the information mailed to senior parents at the beginning of May or contact the upper school office.

 

May 16-21 | Senior Exams

 

May 16 & 17 | Cap & Gown Distribution

Upper School Office

  • Seniors need to bring their completed department clearance form to the office when they pick up their cap and gown. All library materials and athletic items must be returned, Senior Projects completed and lockers cleaned in order to receive their cap and gown.

 

May 21 | Senior Athlete Appreciation Dinner

6:30 p.m. in the Collegiate Cafe

  • This is for students, athletes and their parents.

 

May 22 | Senior Recognition Ceremony

8:30 a.m. in the Hackney Theater

  • Attendance is mandatory for this event for seniors. Parents may attend this event, too.
  • Dress for boys: Coat and tie, dress shoes and socks and must be clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirt or dress (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, blouse or sweater and dress shoes.

 

May 22 | First Graduation Rehearsal

9:30 a.m. in the Watt-Baker Gymnasium

  • Attendance is mandatory for this event for seniors. Parents are not permitted to attend this event.

 

May 23 | Senior Breakfast

7:45 a.m. in the Collegiate Cafe

  • Seniors will start their day with a delicious breakfast served by faculty, and watch a slideshow created by their class officers and get their yearbook.  Parents are not permitted to attend this event.

 

May 23 | Final Graduation Rehearsal  

9 a.m. in the Watt-Baker Gymnasium

  • Attendance is mandatory and begins immediately after breakfast. Parents are not permitted to attend this event.
  • New this year: We will be taking the formal class portrait, as well as your child's formal graduation portrait this day. Please ensure gowns are clean, ironed and students are dressed appropriately.
  • Dress for boys: Coat and tie, dress shoes and socks and must be clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirts or dresses (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, blouse or sweater and dress shoes (flip-flops are not allowed). Please ensure your child doesn't wear a dress that will be seen through the white robe. 
  • All seniors will be taking their formal pictures at this rehearsal, so they must wear the caps and gowns for this rehearsal.

 

May 23 | Baccalaureate

5 p.m. in the Hackney Theater, please arrive no later than 4:45 p.m.

  • Attendance is mandatory. Parents and families are also encouraged to attend this event.
  • Dress for boys: Coat and tie, dress shoes and socks and be clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirt or dress (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, blouse or sweater and dress shoes.

 

May 24 | Graduation

4 p.m. in the Watt-Baker Gymnasium, graduates must be in the Hackney Theater by 3:15 p.m. for pictures.

  • Please arrive in your cap and gown. Please note that seniors must return their cap and gown to the Franklin Lobby in the Meredith Center for the Arts after the ceremony or as soon as you are finished with family photos.
  • Dress for boys: Dress shirt and tie, dress shoes and socks and must be clean-shaven.
  • Dress for girls: Skirt or dress (no shorter than four inches above the knee), dress pants, blouse or sweater and dress shoes.

Commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed here for those family and friends who cannot attend. Please feel free to share the link with your friends and family.
