Armed Services YMCA is dedicated to strengthening the military family by providing programs and services focusing on youth development, healthy living and responsibility.

 

Blue Star Families

Blue Star Families builds communities that support military families by connecting research and data to programs and solutions, including career development tools, local community events for families, and caregiver support. Since its inception in 2009, Blue Star Families has engaged tens of thousands of volunteers and served more than 1.5 million military family members. With Blue Star Families, military families can find answers to their challenges anywhere they are stationed.                                                                                                                                                                  

 

Interstate Compact on Education Opportunity for Military Children

The Council of State Governments (CSG), in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Defense, drafted the Interstate Compact to address the educational challenges transitioning military children experience. Since July 2006, CSG has worked with a variety of federal, state and local officials as well as national stakeholder organizations representing educational groups and military families to create the new interstate agreement.

 

Kahn Academy  

Khan Academy is a nonprofit, educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with a goal of creating online tools to help educate students. The organization produces short lessons in the form of YouTube videos. 

 

Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC)

Military Child Education Coalition's (MCEC) mission is to ensure inclusive, quality educational experiences for all military children affected by mobility, family separation and transition. MCEC offers numerous resources for parents, information about leadership camps and scholarships, and extensive training for educators about the needs of military-connected students. 

Norfolk Collegiate has been a proud MCEC Member School since 2015.

 

Military Family Association

The Military Family Association is a nonprofit organization focusing on issues important to military families, such as comprehensive child care, accessible health care, spouse employment options, great schools, caring communities, a secure retirement and support for widows and widowers.

 

Military Kids Connect

Military Kids Connect is an online community offered by the Department of Defense National Center for Telehealth and Technology. The site provides military-connected students access to age-appropriate resources dealing with unique challenges of military life.

 

Military one source

Military One Source is a free service provided by the Department of Defense (DoD) to active duty, guard and reserve service members (regardless of activation status) and their families with comprehensive information on every aspect of military life including deployment, reunion, relationships, grief, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, and more. It’s a virtual extension of installation services. Consultants are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  

National Military Family Association (NMFA)

National Military Family Association (NMFA) was founded 43 years ago and is a nonprofit organization focusing on issues important to military families, such as comprehensive child care, accessible health care, spouse employment options, great schools, caring communities, a secure retirement and support for widows and widowers.

 

Navy Fleet and Family Support Program

The Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) provides unified, customer-focused, consistent, and efficient FFSP programs and services to support sustained mission and Navy readiness.

 

Tutor.com

Tutor.com is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance that provides eligible students (grades K-12) and service members in U.S. active duty military families to connect to a live tutor online at any time for one-to-one help with homework, studying, test prep, proofreading and more at no cost.

 

United Through Reading

The mission of United Through Reading is to connect military families who are separated —for deployment or military assignment—by providing the bonding experience of shared storytime.
