The Stanton Library serves the Norfolk Collegiate Middle and Upper School from its beautiful, open location on the second floor of the school. The Stanton Library has two major goals: to support and enrich the curriculum in order to help students become effective users of ideas and information, and to foster in students a life-long love of reading.
In order to prepare students to meet the challenges of conducting scholarly and personal research in a technologically advanced society, the library strives to strike a balance between print and electronic sources. In addition to our print collection, the library offers access to thousands of periodicals and electronic reference sources through its collection of subscription databases
. The library catalog, Destiny
, is viewed via computer or iPad at school. Home access to Destiny is available with a student login. Information for home access to the databases is available on the Library’s Edline page..
The librarian collaborates with teachers to integrate research techniques and information seeking skills across all areas of the curriculum. Additionally, a number of book clubs and other reading programs are available to encourage both middle and upper school students to discover their own literary tastes.
The Stanton Library is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday during the school year. On early dismissal days, the library will close at 1 p.m. Any changes to these regular hours are posted and announced. Upper school students may work independently in the Stanton Library before and after school.
Books may be checked out for a period of two weeks and may be renewed as long as the title is not reserved for another student.
