| back | | Lower School Librarian Chronicles Newbery Journey | | | Our lower school librarian, Mrs. Laura Amos, is chronicling for students her culminating days as a member of the 2012 Newbery Award Committee. Mrs. Amos traveled to Dallas, TX, on Thursday to attend the committee’s final deliberations after a year-long journey of searching for the year’s best books published for children.
The Newbery Award Committee, a committee of the Association for Library Services to Children, selects the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children each year. Mrs. Amos has read hundreds of books to help find the very best among them. The deliberations of the committee are top-secret, so Mrs. Amos has given us a just peek of what she’s up to in Dallas.
The 2012 Newbery Award winner and honor books will be announced at a press conference on Monday morning. We can’t wait to find out the winner!
