Experts Add Unique Perspective to College Planning Workshop Series
The College Counseling office will host a number of January programs to provide upper school students and their parents with a wealth of information as they navigate the college exploration and admission process.  In addition to our own resources, outside experts are invited to add their unique perspective and guidance for our students.

"It is important to bring in experts who are close to current issues effecting admissions and financial aid," said Michael Kaplan, Director of College Counseling. "We continue to seek ways to add rich resources to our programs and are pleased to bring in such experienced professionals for our NCS families.”

Junior Night will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 7pm in the Middle School Gym.  Mrs. Mildred Johnson, Director of Admission at Virginia Tech and Mr. Barry Bradberry, Associate Dean of Admissions at Elon University will be on hand to provide advice on the college search and admission process.

The annual College Financial Aid Workshop will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 7pm in the Middle School Explore Room.  Mrs. Patricia Kelly, Associate Director of Financial Aid from the College of William and Mary will provide some basic information to assist families through the intricacies of the college financial aid process.

These two workshops follow the recent PSAT Interpretation Session where attendees brought their score report from the October exam and discussed the meaning of those results. The agenda also included insights into the SAT and ACT, and test preparation strategies.

The January offerings are representative of the College Counseling Department's dedication to finding the "right fit" college for each student. Seminars, workshops and individual counseling are a year-round effort for the team.
