Rings of Life: Center for the Arts

Message from Gary Bonnewell, Parent and Chairman of the Board of Trustees

If you have attended a recent student production, choral concert, Jazz Band or Blue Note Café concert or seen student artwork lining the hallways – then you know our students have a strong interest and talent in the arts. That is why I am so passionate about the Center for the Arts, the current focus of Norfolk Collegiate School’s Rings of Life capital campaign.

Once completed, the center and its 425-seat theater will become an unforgettable showcase for student productions, as well as a regional venue for the best of the performing arts. The theater will also provide a space for community events at our school, such as assemblies, speaker events and lectures. An on-site art gallery will give our young artists a professional space for displaying their own works and for viewing the nationally recognized works of others.

Classrooms, workshops and practice studios will give our students new opportunities to discover who they are and who they can become through music, dance, drama and the fine arts. And they'll be exposed to the full range of the communication arts, as well, from journalism and photography to graphic arts and videography. The facility will improve the academic experience of all students at Norfolk Collegiate School.

We need the help of the entire Norfolk Collegiate School community to break ground on this exciting project. If we can open doors to meet with patrons of the arts and those who care passionately about Norfolk Collegiate School, we can open the doors to this magnificent facility.

We might not all be talented in the visual, performing or communication arts. But one thing is certain: we are all benefactors of the arts.  I encourage you to peruse the capital campaign section on the website for more information on the facility. Or better yet, give us a call. We’d be happy to share our vision and more information with you.

Gary Bonnewell
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
