The Athletic Information Night scheduled on August 29th was cancelled due to the impact of Hurricane Irene. The reschedule date and time for this event will be Monday September 12th at 7:00 pm. The venue will remain the Watt Baker Gymnasium located in the Upper School. This is an important night to hear about Norfolk Collegiate Athletics and I hope that you will be able to join us.
This year we are trying a new format for pre-season athletic meetings. Rather than having a separate meeting prior to each season, we are having one meeting for all grade 6-12 athletes - and parents - who are playing sports during the 2011 – 20112 school year at Norfolk Collegiate.
The meeting itself will also be different from those you may have attended in the past. First, you will hear opening comments from Norfolk Collegiate School Administration. Then we will hear a presentation from Hutch Call, CSCS, our certified strength and conditioning coach, on the new strength and conditioning program NCS is embarking on this fall. You will learn about the details and the science behind our program and how it will benefit your child and our athletic program.
Varsity athletes do a live demonstration on the Vertimax Trainer that was recently purchased as part of the new strength and conditioning program. At the conclusion of the demonstration, staff and administration will be available to answer any questions you may have.
The Athletic department is looking forward to launching this exciting new program and we are eager to hear your input and answer your questions on Monday.
Sincerely,
Robert Czekaj, CAA
Director of Athletics
