| back | | NCS Student Newpaper is now Online | | |  The staff of The Oak Leaf, Norfolk Collegiate School’s student newspaper, celebrated National Scholastic Journalism Week at the upper school assembly on February 22 by introducing their online edition available at http://my.hsj.org/oakleaf. Seniors Taylor Brock, Markell Smith and Connor Owens took students on a tour of the site and invited them to use their smart phones to explore NCS news, photos, calendar entries and local weather.
“The online edition is a great opportunity to publish more timely news and will make us more comfortable with new forms of journalism,” said Brock, The Oak Leaf editor-in-chief.
The staff hopes to gain national recognition from its site sponsor, the American Society of News Editors, for registering the largest number of unique hits between now and February 28. “We’ve logged over 500 unique hits in the last 24 hours,” said Judy Davis, English department chair and journalism adviser. “The student response has been terrific.” | | back | |
