Fifth grade students participated in a middle school preview day Dec. 8. Upon arrival at the middle school, students gathered in the explore room and were met by Roz Klein, head of the middle school. “We were glad to provide the opportunity for the fifth graders to experience an academic day in the middle school and gain an understanding of what the middle school entails,” said Klein.
Throughout the day, fifth graders were able to participate in science, geography, English, and physical education class and to speak with the Middle School guidance counselor. Lunch with their seventh grade buddy rounded out the day’s activities. Each fifth grader has a seventh grade buddy who will serve as a resource next year when they enter the middle school as sixth graders. “I think the fifth graders left the building excited about the upcoming year and a bit more comfortable about what lies in the not-too-distant future,” Klein concluded.
