If a student is in either the National Junior Honor Society or National Honor Society, the required number of hours and deadlines are listed below.
All NJHS students (grades 7 - 8) must commit to 20 hours of community service for the entire year.
(membership requirement) and the time frame for service is June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012. All 20 hours may be earned in the summer. Even though the deadline is May 31, 2012, please turn in your service hours to Ms Fornsel as you earn them. If you are interested in qualifying for a service award, Ms Fornsel must receive your service hours before May 11, 2012.
Students seeking membership in the NJHS must complete at least 10 hours of community service before January 12, 2012.
All NHS students (grades 10 -12) must perform 25 hours of community service for the entire year.
The time frame for this service is June 8, 2011 through May 31, 2012. All 25 hours may be performed in the summer. Seniors should have all of their hours completed by May 11th, 2012. Additionally, if you are interested in qualifying for a service award, Mrs. Swoope must receive your service hours by May 4th, 2012. All 9th grade students must submit a copy of their service to Mrs. Swoope if they wish to qualify for any of the NCS Upper School service awards.
