At the Norfolk Collegiate Lower School, learning is interactive and engaging. Our students are challenged both in and out of the classroom. The goal of our elementary educational program is to offer challenging and stimulating content while being cognizant of the different developmental needs of all young children. The primary grades (K-2) are child-centered classes relating information meaningful to a young person's experiences. As students move from primary to intermediate grades (3-5), instruction is suited to reflect their natural physical, social and emotional growth.
All grade levels enjoy going to classes in the science lab, where they explore, among many things, the wonders of magnetism, photosynthesis and the circulatory system. In addition to a traditional curriculum, students are enrolled in music, art, computer, Spanish, library and daily physical education classes. Fifth graders broadcast several times weekly from our in-house studio WNCS.
